POSTWAR LIONEL 1656 0-4-0 DIE CAST STEAM SWITCHER WITH 6403B BELL RINGING TENDER
LOT DESCRIPTION:
As the title says this lot consists of a Postwar  Lionel 1656, 0-4-0, Die Cast Pennsylvania Railroad type steam switcher  with the correct matching 6403B Tender that was made in the late 1940s. The locomotive has a operating headlight and automatic front coupler  and the die cast tender has the all metal staple end trucks with coil coupler and it also has the bell ringing feature and a back up light..
DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION:
The one classification light on the loco has been repaired but other than that the  locomotive and tender are both in great  shape. The loco casting is perfect, no breaks, cracks or chips. No rust or missing parts, great color, numbers a little faded but still readable, drive rods and wheels all fine as is the front coupler.   Minor paint chips on the loco.    The tender looks fine, no cracks, breaks or dings on the shell, lettering crisp and clear, and coupler in great shape.  Wires to connect the tender to the loco are fine.  Again, a great  looking set that IMHO I would rate as in C-7, excellent condition but look at the pictures and you be the judge for the pictures are an important part of the description and say more than my words ever can.
WORKING CONDITION:
I have cleaned, serviced and tested the locomotive and it runs and reverses just fine,   the e-unit cycles flawlessly, the belling ringer works fine as does the tender rear light and the tender coupler but the front coupler does not work .
